The GEF AM BKK 2026 Awards celebrate individuals, institutions, organizations and official representatives whose work demonstrates measurable leadership, international cooperation, innovation and positive global impact. Eligibility varies by award category.
Worldwide nominations
World Humanity Awards
The World Humanity Awards welcome nominations from every country, without regional, size or political restriction. Individuals, organizations and institutions may apply when their work demonstrates a meaningful humanitarian contribution and aligns with the principles below.
Qualified Countries
Any country may be nominated or represented when it supports one or more of these values:
- Humanity and social development
- Global cooperation, peace or cross-border initiatives
- Human welfare or sustainable development goals
Qualified Individuals
Eligible nominees include people creating positive humanitarian impact:
- Humanitarian leaders and social-impact changemakers
- Peacebuilders, mediators, philanthropists and volunteers
- Education, youth, health, wellness, public-service, cultural, religious and community leaders
Organizations & Institutions
Eligible bodies may include:
- NGOs, foundations and social enterprises
- Education, youth, healthcare, wellness, environment and sustainability programs
- Cultural, government, non-government and private-sector CSR initiatives
General Nomination Criteria
Every nominee must provide clear evidence of the following:
- Proven humanitarian impact benefiting people or communities
- Ethical leadership and responsibility
- Long-term commitment beyond a single event
- Local, national or international significance
- Alignment with humanity, compassion, inclusion, peace, sustainability and global cooperation
- No serious criminal convictions or human-rights violations

Who may be considered
Review the purpose and eligibility of every award before selecting a category on the official application form. Applications that do not meet the stated requirements may not proceed to committee review.
GEF Global Humanity Awards
Recognizes exceptional humanitarian service, social impact and sustained work that improves lives and community wellbeing.
Who can applyQualified individuals, organizations and institutions from any country. Self-applications and nominations are accepted, subject to the WHA criteria above.
GEF Global Diplomacy & Cooperation Awards
Honours outstanding contributions to international diplomacy, cross-border cooperation, peaceful relations and global partnerships.
Who can applyOfficial country representatives or formally designated national representatives only. There is no open public or private-sector application.
GEF Global Peace & Unity Awards
Recognizes meaningful work advancing peace, unity, international understanding, conflict prevention and cooperation.
Who can applyOfficial country representatives or formally designated national representatives only. General applications are not accepted.
GEF Global Leadership Award in Health & Wellbeing
Recognizes leadership in healthcare, longevity, preventive medicine, wellness, biotechnology and community wellbeing.
Who can applyGovernment and public-sector leaders, healthcare or wellness organizations, companies, institutions, NGOs, professionals and other qualified candidates.
GEF Global Leadership Award in Smart Cities & Infrastructure
Honours leadership in connected cities, intelligent infrastructure, mobility, clean energy and sustainable urban development.
Who can applyGovernment agencies, city leaders, infrastructure organizations, technology companies, developers, institutions, NGOs and qualified professionals.
GEF Global Leadership Award in AI, Technology & Education
Recognizes responsible innovation in artificial intelligence, emerging technology, education, cybersecurity and the digital economy.
Who can applyTechnology and education leaders, companies, schools, universities, institutions, public agencies, NGOs, innovators and qualified individuals.
GEF Global Leadership Award in Tourism & Medical Tourism
Celebrates leadership in tourism, hospitality, aviation, destination management and international healthcare travel.
Who can applyTourism authorities, hospitals, hospitality and aviation companies, destination organizations, institutions, leaders and qualified professionals.
GEF Global Leadership Award in Untouched Destinations & Climate Action
Recognizes work protecting emerging destinations, ecosystems, communities and cultural heritage through responsible climate action.

GEF Global Leadership Award in Green Energy & Net-Zero

CG Global Leader Magazine Excellence Awards
Recognizes global leaders, organizations, initiatives and achievements demonstrating excellence, influence, innovation and international impact.

GEF Global Contribution & Impact Awards
Honours exceptional contributions to GEF AM BKK 2026, global development, cooperation, innovation or the wider GEF mission.
Who can applyGovernment bodies, companies, institutions, partners, organizations, leaders and individual contributors. Selection may be nomination-based.
GEF Global Destination Excellence Award (Bangkok)
A special honorary recognition of Bangkok’s international contribution to tourism, wellness, business, culture and global engagement.
Who can applyNo general application. This honorary award is selected by the committee and presented to the Governor of Bangkok.
GEF Global Executive Leadership (GEL) Awards
Recognizes senior executives who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, business performance, cooperation and global impact.
Who can applyExecutives, senior leaders, entrepreneurs and business decision-makers from the private or public sector, subject to GEL requirements.
GEF Young Leaders (YL) Awards
Celebrates emerging leaders demonstrating leadership potential, innovation, entrepreneurship, social impact and commitment to global development.
Who can applyYoung leaders and emerging professionals who meet the applicable YL eligibility criteria. Applications and nominations are accepted.
